Who are We?
Kathy Nicholls, CMT, AHDI-F, has been in the medical transcription industry for over 25 years now. In addition to owning a medical transcription service in the past, she has worked in all settings in the medical transcription industry. Nicholls is also the author of the soon to be published “Stedman’s Guide to the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule,” published by Lippincott, Williams, and Wilkins. She is a well know speaker in the medical transcription industry, having presented in the past at conferences for the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity, the American Health Information Management Association, TEPR, and the Medical Transcription Industry Association. Her familiarity with HIPAA began when she had the opportunity to comment on and work on the original rule while living in the Washington, DC, area in the 1990s.
